RADIO JOCKEY:

Career Prospects: Radio Jockey is one of the most exciting and growing fields in India today. The FM (frequency modulation) boom has thrown open a number of avenues and opportunities to young, energetic and enthusiastic people who have an ear for music and a passion to entertain. The profession of Radio Jockeying has just taken off in India and the demand for Radio Jockeys is likely to shoot up in the coming years as 300 more new FM channels are proposed in the country besides 2000-3000 Community Radio Stations.

Who can become RJ: Some people are naturally gifted with a flair for entertaining people and communicating with them. Others need to cultivate it. But whatever the background of a person, with a little bit of grooming and acquaintance with the media, a person can easily nurture the talent latent in him or her.

Expected Income:  The very initial stage of earning is anything between Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 15,000 per month after the course and on-job training. If salaries doled out by private radio companies in the past are any indication, an RJ could earn upwards of Rs 50,000 per month.
